Backcountry Exploration and Natural Beauty – a tribute to my dad

My dad was an explorer, back-country adventurer, and he loved the wilderness, wildlife, and nature. He was also a highly skilled doctor who cared very much about all of his patients, a family physician, MD, general practitioner.

My Dad passed away in April, and last weekend we held a memorial in his honor.

I miss him very much, and we were very close.

Exploring the wilderness, mountains, streams, wild rivers, mountain lakes, and back country was very different back in the 50’s and 60’s.

We would usually go out into the back country for about a week. We traveled fast, and very light, much lighter than hikers and backpackers today. We did not have a tent, or stove.  We did sometimes put up a lean-to. We drank water from streams and snow melt.

We often hiked about 10 to 13 miles per day, sometimes more, and climbed the highest mountains in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Sometimes, we traveled cross-country without any trail, fording rivers, and climbing up and down steep ridges that were a couple thousand feet high. And we did traverses of steep glaciers, scree, and climbed steep faces of rock, snow-capped mountains, whatever was necessary to travel to our destination. All this was done without any GPS or cell phone.

We used our natural sense to read the terrain, and we had map and compass. Often, the maps were inaccurate. So we used compass and line of sight to landmarks, followed streams, used celestial navigation if available, and if not, just used our natural sense of direction.

What I learned then has stayed with me, evolved and refined over the years, and it has influenced how I view health, healing, vitality, fitness, and life. I have much to say, but I will let these photos and music tell this story for now.

I produced a film from images – mostly transparencies –  that were mostly shot by him, with some by me, and set it to three of my original songs as a tribute to my dad. It runs just under nine minutes. It should open up without any problem on your computer, tablet, or phone.

It may give a sense of the beauty that we experienced. My hope is that this natural beauty and wildlife must be preserved so that others can experience it, and nature can remain strong, including all of us and wildlife.

Healing Light Yoga refers to the healing power of the sun. It is said that one can gaze at the sun safely when it is touching or below the horizon. This happens at sunrise and sunset. At other times of the day, it is not safe to look directly at the sun for long periods of time.

It is said that gazing at the sun in this manner is safe and it is an ancient healing practice, in Ayurveda, and in my opinion, it was also known in long-forgotten cultures.

My recommendation for healing any disorder is to be outside in the sun, relax, and drink pure water. Keep a peaceful mind. The rays of the sun will purify and heal the body. The water will flush and clean the body. The mind will relax, and the life-giving power of the sun and water will lift the spirit, cleanse the body of impurities, and heal disease processes.

Healing is a lifelong interest of mine and a topic that I will return to later with more comments. I make no guarantees that this will work, of course!

What I do is help people to increase accurate perception, memory, straighten their bodies, and come into neutral posture, through my Present Moment Program. This has many benefits. I call these benefits Power of Performance, and Supreme Wellness.

Concepts. Awareness, Alignment, Balance, and Movement, leading to Power of Performance, Supreme Wellness.

Present Moment Program: Posture Assessment, Posture Photos, Gait Analysis, Movement Analysis, Healing Light Kata instruction, Focused Massage Therapy (optional).

Progress is measured by baseline comparison through photos and video of each session, using the plumb line photos as a baseline comparison, and also to see movement documented through the videos of each session. In addition, you can learn the Healing Light Kata much faster by being able to see the videos of each session.

The Healing Light Kata is a form that I have developed over many years of dedicated work. Kata means form in the Japanese language. Healing Light means the light and healing power of the sun.

It is a fusion of yoga, Supreme Ultimate Fist, and posture exercises that I have invented, refined and polished into a diamond state over many years. Supreme Ultimate Fist is also known as T’ai Chi Ch’uan.

The Healing Light Kata is designed to bring a person into neutral posture and awareness of the gravity line, for optimal efficiency in balance, alignment, movement, all functions of performance, wellness, and especially to increase accurate perception and memory, in line with the Present Moment Program goals.

The Focused Massage Therapy is recommended, and it will help you to progress much faster, than without it.

There are 3 Tracks. Track 1 documents each session with photos and video. You will have your own private, password-protected page on my website to view the photos and videos of your sessions.

Track 1. This is the best track. It costs twice as much as Track 2 because it takes me at least twice as long to work with the photos, videos, write up your analysis, create and maintain your private password-protected page. Video especially is very labor-intensive and time-consuming. This information will yield outstanding benefits to you, and help you to attain rapid progress in the program goals.

You have the opportunity to learn the system and progress much faster with the photos, videos, written analysis, and your own private password-protected page.

In addition, if you sign a Model Release, I will give you a 10% discount. This will allow me to include your case history to help others, including health care professionals, to learn more about this important work. The discount will be applied after completion of at least 4 sessions.

Track 2 is the same as Track 1, but with no photos, no video, no written analysis, and no private password-protected page. You will have to learn everything while you are in session. There is no opportunity to view photos or videos of the sessions.

Track 3 is for Medical Massage Therapy, by Physician’s Referral and Prescription Form only, billed to your insurance company. Time of each session: one hour.

GOALS. Attain and maintain Neutral Posture, Power of Performance, and Supreme Wellness.
